Waddlers – TENDER TERRACE

Through lots of play, we encourage our Waddlers to explore their environment and to help in their first steps, both literally, and towards language development!

Once your child is on their feet and ready to progress, they will move to Waddlers (Tender Terrace) from the Infant (Lullaby Lane) room. Following on from our baby room, the 4 areas of development we focus on in this room are, Social, Emotional, Intellectual and Physical. Weekly plans are prepared by the staff and incorporate a weekly change of toys, equipment and activities in the room to keep our Waddlers stimulated and ensure they are having fun! Daily activities include story and rhyme time, music and dance as well as painting, jigsaws, and s on to encourage fine manipulative skills.

This is an age of great discovery and adventure through play both inside and outside. At this age children learn to walk, co-operate, express themselves and their needs. Children at this age develop their walking, balance and co-ordination skills as well as learning to form friendships with those of their own age. This social interaction is a very important part of every child’s development.

We provide three meals daily; a nutritious morning and afternoon snack and a hot, well-balanced lunch. They enjoy two scheduled outside times daily, weather permitting. We provide each child with a rest cot.

Each day you will receive a written daily report, specific to your child, that contains information on his or her food intake, diaper changes, naps and general daily behavior.for a two hour daily rest time after lunch. The children are always welcome to bring their own special blanket and sleep comfort items from home.

Our Tender Terrace classroom employs the 1:5 or 1:6 child care ratios.
